Limited Edition Cup Based on the Movie

As the film 'Los Abrazos Rotos' ('Broken Embraces') starts in Spain on March 18th, Illy puts this extraordinary, dynamically designed espresso cup on the market. This new movie by cult director Pedro Almodovar will be in European cinemas until the end of August. The limited illy cup is the ideal screen for Almodovars Star: actress Penelope Cruz.

Spanish Passion

Almodovars muse plays a leading part in the film as well as on the cup. A picture of the passionate Spanish actress is set before a red and a blue background in the style of Warhol portraits on this very special espresso cup from the Illy art collection. Even the saucer with its red and white geometrical design has a Spanish appeal.

Broken Embraces

The illy collection cup bears the same title as the film about blind Matteo Blanco, an ex-director, who finds himself confronted with his past. Fourteen years ago he had done a film and fallen in love with actress Lena (Cruz) who had been involved with entrepreneur Ernesto Martel. After the death of Martel, Blanco is forced to recount the events of the past. The story of this love affair is transformed into aesthetic pictures.
